What the numbers mean

Two cones from one box. One up the wall, one down it. That is the look people mean when they say architectural lighting, and it is the reason to choose this over a lantern: a lantern lights the doorway, this lights the wall the doorway is in.

1200 lm a pack across both cones, plus an RGBIC accent strip. The white does the work and the colour is trim. Do not buy this imagining a wall of saturated colour; buy it for a warm wash with a coloured line in it for three weeks a year.

2700K to 6500K. A real tunable white, so it can be warm by the front door and cold over a workshop, and it can be both at different hours if you set a schedule.

IP66. Dust-tight and rated for jets of water, which is the right rating for something mounted flat on a wall that takes wind-driven rain.

Hardwired. Not a plug, not a battery, not solar. This goes to a junction box at 120 V, which means either you are confident with mains or you are paying an electrician. Price that in before you compare it against the Emliviar, which is also hardwired, or against a battery light, which is not.

Who it is for

  • A modern facade, garage piers, a flat entry wall — a surface worth washing rather than a doorway needing a lantern.
  • Anyone already running Govee elsewhere. It carries the same app, and it speaks Matter, Alexa and Google.
  • People who want their outdoor lighting to change with the season without putting anything up or taking anything down.

Who should buy something else

  • You want a traditional look: this is a slab, not a lantern. The Emliviar is the classic black lantern. Side by side.
  • You want it to switch itself with no app at all: the hykolity has a photocell and no radio.
  • You will not hardwire: none of the wall lights here are plug-in.

What we could not check

We have not mounted these. The catalogue carried this product for a day with a PENDING ASIN and no price, because everything we had came off a European listing; the US listing was confirmed on the date at the top, which is why it now has a link and a cost tier.

On the numbers, note one correction. Our earlier European transcription recorded 1400 lm a fixture; the US listing states 1200 lm a pack. We have gone with the US listing because that is the one this page links to, and the two are not reconcilable.

The reliability read is the best of any wall light here, and owners specifically report it holding up through rain, snow and temperatures near 0°F. The complaint that repeats is the app rather than the hardware: the Govee Home app draws “clunky” as a description more than once, and a minority of owners see recurring wifi dropouts. One unit arrived with a dead LED strip and was exchanged. That is a good record, on a sample small enough that we would not bet the house on it.

Price tiers are our own rough budget bands, not live prices. Check the listing for today’s price. The price itself stays on the listing, where it is current, rather than here, where it would go stale. The same catalogue drives the calculator, so a number here and a number there are the same number.
