What the numbers mean

An E26 socket, and nothing else. This is the whole point of the fixture and it is easy to undersell. There is no integrated LED, no photocell, no radio, no app. You put whatever bulb you want in it — a warm 2700K filament, a daylight bulb, a dusk-to-dawn bulb with a sensor in its base, a smart bulb that speaks to your house. The fixture is a housing and a piece of glass, and it will still be a housing and a piece of glass when the bulb technology has moved on twice.

Up to 100 W. Far more headroom than any LED you will put in it needs. It sets a ceiling, not an expectation.

Two in the box, aluminium frame, seeded glass. Seeded glass is the deliberately bubbled kind; it scatters the filament so you see a glow rather than a point.

Wet location listed. UL’s rating for direct exposure — rain landing on it, not merely damp air near it. That is the correct listing for a fixture on an unprotected wall.

Who it is for

  • A front door, a back door, a garage side — the classic pair either side of an opening.
  • Anyone who wants to choose their own colour temperature, or to make the fixture smart by choosing a smart bulb rather than by trusting a manufacturer’s app to still exist in five years.
  • People replacing builder-grade fixtures who want something that looks considered without looking expensive. Reviewers repeatedly say it looks better than the big-box equivalent.

Who should buy something else

  • You want it to switch itself and you do not want to think about bulbs: the hykolity has the photocell built in. Side by side.
  • You want colour and an app: the Govee UpDown.
  • You want a designer piece: the Kichler is a genuine architectural fixture at a similar price for one rather than two.

What we could not check

We have not mounted these. No bulb is included, so we cannot tell you what it looks like lit — that depends entirely on what you screw into it, which is both the strength of the design and a real gap in any review of it, ours included.

This is the strongest combination of owner satisfaction and sample size of any wall light here. Owners also single out the manufacturer being proactive about shipping damage, which is a low bar that a surprising number of brands fail.

Two things go wrong, and both are install-time rather than lifetime. The seeded-glass panels crack if you force them past the retaining prong, and the listing gives no clear guidance on which way that prong is supposed to bend — so go slowly and do not persuade it with a screwdriver. And the open-bottom design lets insects collect inside the glass, which is a cleaning job once a season rather than a defect.

Price tiers are our own rough budget bands, not live prices. Check the listing for today’s price. The price itself stays on the listing, where it is current, rather than here, where it would go stale. The same catalogue drives the calculator, so a number here and a number there are the same number.
