You choose whether analytics runs. Here is what we collect, what stays in your browser, and how to change your choice.
Who runs this site.

TryLights is an independent site. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or partnered with any lighting manufacturer. Product names are used only to identify the hardware a render was based on.

Google Analytics runs only after you accept analytics. Until then, we do not load Google’s tracking script or send it analytics requests. Rejecting analytics leaves all the comparisons, guides and tools available.
Your choice is saved in this browser’s local storage for 180 days. Use to change it. Rejecting after accepting stops tracking, removes our Google Analytics cookies and reloads the page. It does not erase data already collected by Google.
There is no account to make and no newsletter to join. We use two typefaces, Archivo Black and Karla, and both are served from this domain, as are our stylesheets and images.
Optional analytics.
If you accept, Google Analytics 4 receives page views, retailer-link clicks, calculator use and worksheet-link clicks, along with standard session and engagement information. This helps us see which pages bring visitors and which tools they use. A retailer click does not tell us whether you bought anything. The legal basis is your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time in Analytics settings.
Google receives browser and device information, an analytics browser identifier, and connection information used to derive approximate location. We remove query strings and fragments from page addresses and send only the referring site’s origin. We do not send calculator measurements, photos, email addresses or retailer URL queries. We do not use advertising features, Google Signals or session recordings.
After consent, first-party Google Analytics cookies whose names start with _ga identify your browser. We limit their lifetime to 180 days without extending it on every visit. User and event data retention in the property is two months; aggregated reports can remain longer. Your choice is specific to this browser, so you may need to choose separately on other devices.
Google and Cloudflare may process data in the USA under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. Read Google’s privacy policy for its handling of information. You can also use Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Buy links and the calculator.
The buy links. Every buy button opens a product listing at the retailer, usually Amazon, with our affiliate tag on the end of the URL. That tag is how a sale is credited back to us. If you accept analytics, we record the retailer name and product identifier when you click; we do not send the full buy-link URL to analytics. Amazon and other retailers may set cookies when you click through, under their own privacy policies.
The calculator. With JavaScript running, the arithmetic happens in the page as you type and none of your measurements are sent to analytics. If you accept analytics, we record that you used the calculator, without its field values.
Hosting and photos.
Hosting providers process connection data to deliver and secure the site. If a photo tool is offered, photos are used only to create your render and are deleted after a limited period.
The render tool is switched off. There is nowhere on this site to upload a photo.
Technical data needed to deliver the site is processed on the basis of our legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)) and kept for a limited period.
Site statistics: Cloudflare counts page visits without cookies, so we can see how the site is used – legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)).
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data.
Your rights.
You have the right to access, correction, deletion, objection and withdrawal of consent at any time – email hello@trylights.com. You may complain to the Andmekaitse Inspektsioon (aki.ee).
Analytics uses a browser identifier rather than a named account; changing your preference does not delete earlier reports.
