About the pictures
Are these photographs of real installations?
No. Every picture on this site that shows lights on a house is our own render, and we say so under each one. None of it is manufacturer photography.
Each render is tied to a specific product and constrained to what that product can physically do — its zone count, the spacing between points, the colour range it supports. A picture that flatters a kit by drawing more zones than it has would be worse than useless to you.
How accurate are they?
The position of the run, the spacing between points and the colours are accurate to the product on the page.
Brightness is the honest weak spot. How bright a kit looks on a house depends on the siding colour, the street lighting and how dark it actually gets where you live. We render a reasonable middle, and it is a visualisation rather than a photograph.
Why do they look different from the product photos?
Because manufacturer photography is shot on a dark street, at the right hour, on a house chosen to flatter the product. We shoot every kit on the same three houses instead, so the difference you are looking at is the difference between the kits.
Where do the pictures of the products themselves come from?
They are illustrations we generate, the same way the renders on the sample houses are. Each one is drawn onto the same plain background so the catalogue reads as one set, and none of them is a photograph — not of the product, not of anything else. The line under each one says so.
So read the picture for the rough shape of the fixture and the spec table beside it for the facts. Where a detail decides the purchase — the finish, the size of a bulb, the shape of a stake — the listing behind the button is the one to trust.
About the lights
Which products do you cover?
31 at the moment, across six categories: permanent eave runs, outdoor string lights, pathway lights, landscape spotlights, outdoor wall lights and seasonal Christmas lights. They come from whichever brands are actually selling, not from one manufacturer. Each carries its real length, light count and spacing on the card.
How do I know how many feet I need?
Use the calculator. It takes about a minute, wants the front eave length, the number of gables and your roof pitch, and it tells you which kit length to buy and how much spare you will have. Guessing this is the most expensive mistake in the whole purchase.
Can I install these myself?
Usually, if you are comfortable on a ladder and your fascia takes a screw. Check three things first: an exterior outlet within reach of where the run ends, fascia that is not aluminium capping over rotten wood, and whether your HOA has anything to say about permanent exterior fixtures.
About your data
What do you collect about me?
Optional Google Analytics runs only after you accept and measures page visits and tool and buy-link use. Calculator measurements are not sent to analytics. There is no account, email box or photo upload while the render tool is off. See our privacy page for the details.
Does this site use cookies?
Google Analytics cookies are set only if you accept analytics. Your choice is saved in this browser for 180 days. You can change it through Analytics settings in the footer. Rejecting analytics leaves the site fully usable.
Following a buy link opens the retailer, which can set its own cookies under its own privacy policy. Our fonts and other page assets are hosted here.
Still not sure? Look at them lit.
Every kit on the same three houses, at the same dusk, with its own count and spacing. That answers the question better than this page can.
