What the numbers mean
One fixture, not two. Every other wall light here comes as a pair. This is a single sconce at a similar price to a pair of the Emliviar, so a symmetric install is double what the spec line suggests. Read the count before you compare the cost.
Cast aluminium, not stamped. It has the weight of a fixture rather than of a housing, and reviewers consistently notice.
E26 to 65 W on a BR30. An ordinary socket, so you supply the character: warm or cold, dumb or smart, dusk-to-dawn or switched. The same argument as the Emliviar, in a different silhouette.
Dark Sky compliant. The light goes down, not sideways and not up. That means less glare into a neighbour’s window and less into the sky, and it also means this is a downlight — it will not wash the wall above it the way the Govee UpDown does. Compliance here is a description of the beam, not a bonus feature.
Open at both ends. A cylinder. Air moves through it, and so does wind-driven rain.
Who it is for
- A modern facade where a lantern would look wrong.
- Anyone who wants to bring their own bulb and their own automation to a fixture that will outlast both.
- Sheltered positions: under a soffit, in a recessed entry, on a covered porch.
Who should buy something else
- A fully exposed wall: see below. This is the one condition that should change your mind.
- You need two for the money: the Emliviar pair, or the hykolity pair with the photocell included.
- You want up-and-down wash: the Govee UpDown throws both cones. This throws one, downward, by design.
What we could not check
We have not mounted this. It also has the thinnest evidence base of any wall light on this page, well behind the hykolity’s, so read the confidence accordingly.
The one substantive complaint is specific and structural rather than a quality lottery, which is why it gets space here. A reviewer returned it because the open cylinder is not suited to a fully exposed spot that takes wind-driven rain, and Kichler’s answer is an accessory: an enclosed-lens version, sold separately. So the fixture is wet-location listed and there is still a class of position it is wrong for. If your wall is exposed, budget for the lens accessory or buy something else. If it is under an overhang, this is not a concern at all.
On the other side, Kichler’s support comes up well: one reviewer needed a replacement screw and had it shipped free on the same call. A real manufacturer with a parts department is worth something on a fixture you intend to keep for fifteen years.

Price tiers are our own rough budget bands, not live prices. Check the listing for today’s price. The price itself stays on the listing, where it is current, rather than here, where it would go stale. The same catalogue drives the calculator, so a number here and a number there are the same number.
