The differences that matter

  • Automation: the hykolity 18 has a built-in photocell, on at dusk and off at dawn, with no app or timer to set. The Kichler listing says no sensor and no radio.
  • Dimming: the Kichler is listed as dimmable with the right bulb and dimmer. The hykolity page lists no dimming.
  • Light direction: the Kichler is Dark Sky compliant, sending light down rather than sideways. The hykolity listing says nothing about direction.
  • Bulb limit: the hykolity socket takes up to 60 W and the Kichler up to 65 W on a BR30. The hykolity listing says its bulb is not included.
  • Weather rating: the hykolity is ETL wet location and the Kichler is UL wet location, different listing marks that cannot be ranked against each other.
