Who each one is for
The Govee Lights 2 (100 ft) is for a front that measures comfortably under 100 ft once rakes and returns are counted. It carries 72 lights at 17 in and is the lower-cost tier of the two.
The Govee Lights 2 (150 ft) is for a roofline that runs past 100 ft: a wide two-storey front, a garage return, a porch run. It is the same family stretched to 108 lights over 150 ft, with the same 17 in pitch.
The differences that matter
Almost everything except length is shared, so this choice is mostly about measuring.
- Length and count. 72 lights over 100 ft against 108 lights over 150 ft. The pitch is 17 in on both, so the look does not change.
- Fixed segments. Neither kit can be cut. The length you order is the length you have, and a powered coil is not a safe place to hide the surplus. The 100 ft kit joins up to 9 light segments and 4 extension cables (two of 12 ft, two of 4 ft). The 150 ft listing is described as fixed segments that chain, up to nine; our data does not list its extension cable lengths.
- Same light. Both are 40 lm per light, IP67 lights, with a white mixed from the colour LEDs that stops around 4000K. Neither has a dedicated warm channel; warm white vs cool white shows what that looks like.
- Control. Both use the Govee Home app with Alexa and Google Assistant. We do not claim Matter for either.
- Compatibility. Govee warns against connecting the Lights 2 to the first Permanent Outdoor Lights (H705A, H705B, H705C). Keep every segment within the same model line.
Which to buy
- Measure first. Follow measuring a roofline, then check the total against whether 100 ft is enough. Count every gable edge and porch return you actually want lit.
- 100 ft or less, planning allowance included: the 100 ft kit. A 150 ft kit you cannot cut leaves lights with nowhere to go.
- Over 100 ft: the 150 ft kit. A 100 ft kit that falls short leaves a dark stretch, and extension cables only bridge gaps, they do not add lit footage.
- In between: the fixed-segment rule matters more than the nameplate number. Check where segment joins would fall on your route before you order.
When to pick neither
If you need to trim to an exact length, or the run is past 150 ft, a cuttable kit fits better. The Pro 100 against the Lights 2 150 covers the cuttable option at a similar length, and the Pro 200 against the Lights 2 150 covers the long runs. If you only want lights for a few weeks a year, permanent vs seasonal explains when a permanent kit is the wrong tool.
Frequently asked questions
Can I cut the Govee Lights 2 100 ft or 150 ft kit?
No. Neither the Govee Lights 2 at 100 ft nor the 150 ft version can be cut. Both come as fixed segments that chain together, so the length you buy is the length you install.
Is the Govee Lights 2 150 ft brighter than the 100 ft?
Each light is the same, at 40 lm, on both kits. The 150 ft version has 108 lights against 72 on the 100 ft version, so it has more total light only because it covers more roofline.
How many segments can I join on the Govee Lights 2 100?
The Lights 2 100 ft kit supports up to 9 light segments and 4 extension cables, two of 12 ft and two of 4 ft. Govee also warns against mixing it with the first Permanent Outdoor Lights models H705A, H705B and H705C.
Is 100 ft enough for my house, or do I need the Lights 2 150?
Measure the route you plan to light, including gable edges, and add a small allowance. If the total is over 100 ft, choose the Govee Lights 2 150 ft kit, because the 100 ft kit cannot be cut or lengthened by extension cables into extra lit footage.
