Who each one is for
The Govee Pro 100 is for a front of about 100 ft or less, where you want to cut the run to fit and have a true warm white. It has 60 lights at 20 in.
The Govee Lights 2 at 150 ft is for a front between about 100 and 150 ft that you want in one run at the tightest pitch of the eave kits in this catalogue. It has 108 lights at 17 in. The pairing turns on length, whether you can cut, and the white range.
The differences that matter
- Length. 100 ft against 150 ft. The Pro only goes past 150 ft with Govee’s driver module; the Lights 2 150 comes at 150 ft in fixed segments.
- Cutting. The Pro can be cut and spliced. The Lights 2 150 cannot be cut; it chains fixed segments, so the length you order is the length you get. Cutting and extending permanent lights explains the difference between the two Govee families.
- Pitch and count. 60 lights at 20 in on the Pro, 108 lights at 17 in on the Lights 2 150.
- White. The Pro has a dedicated warm and cold white channel, 2700K to 6500K. The Lights 2 white is mixed from the colour LEDs and tops out around 4000K. See warm white vs cool white.
- Brightness per light. Up to 50 lm on the Pro, 40 lm on the Lights 2 150.
- Weather. IP67 lights and an IP65 control box on both.
- Control. The Pro lists the Govee Home app with Matter, Alexa and Google Assistant. For the Lights 2 150 we list Alexa and Google only; Govee’s pages disagree on Matter for that line.
- Compatibility. Do not mix the Lights 2 family with Govee’s first-generation Permanent Outdoor Lights.
Which to buy
- Run of 100 ft or less: the Pro 100. You do not pay for 50 ft you cannot use.
- Run of 110 to 150 ft, mostly straight: the Lights 2 150, since it covers the length in one kit without a driver module.
- Awkward or irregular roofline: the Pro 100 or the Pro 200, because you can cut them.
- Warm white most nights: the Pro. The Lights 2 does not reach 2700K.
When to pick neither
If your measured run falls well between the two, for example 118 ft, the 100 ft kit leaves a dark gap and the fixed 150 ft kit leaves about 30 ft of lights with nowhere to go, because it cannot be cut and a powered coil is not a safe place for spare length. In that case, and for anything past 150 ft, the Pro 200 cut to length is the cleaner answer. Measure with the measuring guide and read is 100 ft enough first.
Frequently asked questions
Can I cut the Govee Lights 2 150 ft kit?
No. The Lights 2 150 ft is not cuttable and chains in fixed segments. The Govee Pro 100 can be cut and spliced to fit.
Is the Govee Pro 100 warmer than the Lights 2 150?
Yes. The Pro 100 has a dedicated white channel that reaches 2700K, while the Lights 2 150 mixes its white and tops out around 4000K.
Which has more lights, the Pro 100 or the Lights 2 150?
The Lights 2 150 has 108 lights at 17 in over 150 ft. The Pro 100 has 60 lights at 20 in over 100 ft. The Lights 2 150 is also longer, so the pitch is the fairer comparison.
Does the Govee Lights 2 150 support Matter?
The Govee Lights 2 150 listing does not claim Matter, and Govee’s own pages disagree on the line. The Govee Pro 100 listing does state Matter support.
