Where the buy links go

Amazon

Every buy link on this site goes to Amazon, which is the only retailer we cover today. Our editorial is our own: nobody pays to appear here, and placement is not for sale.

They are four decisions, not one purchase.

Most houses end up with two of the four, bought a year apart. Each is rendered by its product’s real count and spacing, so you can see them separately or stacked.

One suburban house at dusk with all four kinds of lighting switched on at once: a line along the roof edge, sconces and a ground flood on the front wall, staked lights down the walk, and a swagged string of bulbs over a seating area.
  • 1 · Roofline Eave plus both gable rakes. 100 to 120 ft on most two-storey fronts.
  • 2 · Facade One up-down box per pier, one flood per feature. Four is already a lot.
  • 3 · Path & drive One every 6 to 8 ft down each side you want lit, one at each step.
  • 4 · Patio & garden Post to post, plus a fifth for sag. Nothing touches the house.

Illustration, not a render. Nothing in it was placed by a catalogue count or spacing.

One house, four surfaces, four kits.

The same three sample houses, dark and then built up a surface at a time — roofline, then the walk, then the wall, then the planting. Drag the handle. Every kit named under the frame is one we cover.

Three steps. About four minutes.

  1. Pick the surface

Roof edge, walk, wall or patio. They are four different jobs with four different kinds of hardware, and buying for the wrong one is the common mistake.

  2. Measure the run

The calculator wants your front eave, the number of gables and the roof pitch, and tells you which kit length covers it with how much to spare.

  3. Compare like for like

Every kit rendered on the same house at the same dusk, with its own count and spacing printed under it. Then buy, or do not.

Counted, not claimed.

Every number on this site is one we can count. These three are counted when the page loads.

No star ratings, no review counts, no testimonials. We would rather show you the render.

Three things we will not do.

Flatter the hardware

Zone counts, spacing and colour range come off the spec sheet. We will not render a scheme the product cannot physically produce.

Hide who pays us

Every buy link earns us a commission, and the footer of every page says so.

Gate the useful part

The comparisons, the calculator and every buy link are never behind an email box. There is no email box. Ever.

The four we get most.

Are these pictures of real installations?

No, and we say so under every one. They are our own renders, each tied to a specific product and constrained to what that product can do — its zone count, its spacing, its colour range. None of it is manufacturer photography.

How accurate are they, really?

The position of the run, the spacing between points and the colours are accurate to the product. Brightness is the honest weak spot: how bright a kit looks depends on the siding, the street lighting and how dark it actually gets where you live. We render a reasonable middle.

Do I have to buy through you?

No, and the buy link is never gated. If you would rather walk into a store and pay the same price there, that is completely reasonable and it costs you nothing extra either way.

Why are there no prices on the product pages?

Because a price typed onto a page like this one is wrong within a week, and there is no honest way for us to keep a whole catalogue of them current. So you get a cost tier and a button that opens the live listing, which is the only price that counts.

All the questions →

Start with the surface, not the product.

Every kit we cover, rendered on the same three houses, with its real count, spacing and run length on the card. Then you will know instead of guessing.
