Who each one is for
The Govee Pro 100 is for a house of about 100 ft or less that wants a continuous-looking row of small points and a plain warm white. It has 60 lights at 20 in.
The Govee Prism 200 is for a wide front where larger, more widely spaced heads suit the scale. It has 72 heads at 33 in over 200 ft, and each head holds three colour zones, so one head can show a gradient instead of a single colour. These two differ in length, spacing and effects, not just in cost.
The differences that matter
- Length. 100 ft against 200 ft. If your measured run is over 100 ft, the Prism is a 200 ft kit, not a 100 ft one.
- Pitch and point size. The Pro’s 60 lights sit 20 in apart. The Prism’s 72 heads sit 33 in apart, so from the street it reads as distinct lamps rather than a dotted line.
- Gradients. The Prism has three colour zones inside each head. The Pro lights are single points, so gradients happen between lights, not inside one.
- Brightness. Up to 60 lm per Prism light against up to 50 lm per Pro light.
- White. The Pro lists a dedicated warm and cold white channel, 2700K to 6500K. Govee’s own spec for the Prism also says 2700K to 6500K.
- Weather. The Prism is IP68 with an outdoor-use adapter (not submersible), -22F to 140F. The Pro is IP67 with an IP65 control box, -4F to 140F.
- Cutting and mounting. Both cut and splice. The Prism can also be extended and mounts with adhesive and pre-drilled screws; the Pro uses VHB glue and clips. The Prism listing asks for a covered Class A GFCI receptacle with a weatherproof enclosure.
- Control. Both list Matter, Alexa and Google. The Prism has 100+ scenes against the Pro’s 75.
- Cost. Both sit in the top cost tier, so cost does not separate them.
Which to buy
- Plain warm white most nights, 100 ft or less: the Pro 100.
- Gradients and bigger points of light: the Prism 200. The Pro cannot do an in-head gradient.
- A line that reads as continuous: the Pro’s 20 in pitch is closer to a line than the Prism’s 33 in.
- Roofline of 100 to 200 ft where you like the dotted look: the Pro 200 is the same light as the Pro 100 at twice the length.
When to pick neither
If you rent, or cannot fix anything to the fascia, read permanent vs seasonal before spending on either. If the Prism’s wider spacing worries you on a short run, measure with the measuring guide and see whether a closer-pitch kit such as the Lights 2 at 150 ft suits the house better.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the Govee Pro 100 and the Prism 200?
The Pro 100 is 100 ft with 60 single-colour lights at 20 in. The Prism 200 is 200 ft with 72 heads at 33 in, and each head holds three colour zones for gradients. The Prism also has a higher brightness listing and is rated IP68.
Is the Govee Prism 200 brighter than the Pro 100?
Per light, yes. The Prism is listed at up to 60 lm per light and the Pro 100 at up to 50 lm. The Prism’s heads are also spaced wider, 33 in against 20 in.
Does the Govee Prism 200 have a warm white?
Govee’s own spec page gives the Prism 200 a white range of 2700K to 6500K. The Pro 100 has a dedicated warm and cold white channel across the same range, so both can do a warm porch-light white.
Can I cut the Govee Prism 200?
Yes. The Prism 200 can be cut, spliced and extended. The Govee Pro 100 is also cuttable and spliceable, but it cannot go past 150 ft without Govee’s driver module.
