The differences that matter
- Brightness: the Linkind 8 is listed at 200 lm a head over about a 2 m spread. The Beau Jardin 8 is 10 lm a head, enough for marking a path edge rather than lighting it.
- Battery: the Linkind's battery is not replaceable, and its product notes flag that as the main risk, because a failed cell means replacing the light. The Beau Jardin uses a replaceable 950 mAh NiMH cell.
- Runtime: the Linkind lists 6 to 12 hours from a full charge. The Beau Jardin lists ten to thirteen hours after four to six hours of sun.
- Modes: the Linkind has four stem heights and a light sensor that can be turned on or off. The Beau Jardin has three modes: cool white, a fixed colour, or cycling.
- Weather rating: the Linkind is listed as weatherproof ABS with no IP number. The Beau Jardin is IP65 with a stainless-steel pole and diamond-cut glass shade.
